Widget: add transactions from phone home screen

With the MoneyLover widget on iOS and Android, you can quickly add transactions directly from your home screen, making it easier to manage your finances without opening the app.

The new widget feature is launched in version 8.29.0  🤩

Benefits of using the MoneyLover widget:

• Convenient and quick: The widget allows you to quickly access the transaction entry function without opening the app. This is especially helpful when you need to log a transaction right after spending.
• Reduces the risk of forgetting Transactions: Logging transactions immediately on the widget helps you avoid forgetting or missing small daily expenses.
• Flexible customization: Users can easily switch between wallets and categories that fit each transaction, making data entry quick and accurate.

How to add new MoneyLover widget

IOS device:

To add the widget for MoneyLover on iOS, follow these steps:

1. From the Home Screen, touch and hold a widget or an empty area until the apps jiggle.
2. Tap the Add button  in the upper-left corner.
3. Search MoneyLover, select the widget, choose new widget and tap Add Widget.
4. Tap Done.
   Note: The add transaction widget feature is only supported on iOS 17 and later.

Android device:

To add the widget for MoneyLover on Android, follow these steps:

1. On the Home screen, touch and hold an empty space. Tap Widgets.
2. In the widgets screen, search for and select MoneyLover.
3. Scroll down and select Add Transaction Widget (4x4), then press the Add button.
4. You can now find Add Transaction MoneyLover Widget on your Home screen.

         

How to use new widget to add transactions

1. Select category:

• • On the widget interface, you’ll see popular expense categories such as Food & Beverage, Transportation, Bills & Utilities, etc.
    • The first category is the category of the most recently created transaction based on the wallet currently selected in the widget.
    • The next three categories are the ones with the most transactions added to this wallet in the past 30 days.
  • To choose a different category if it’s not shown on the main screen, simply press See more to view all available categories and select the one that matches your transaction.
  • On iOS, you can tap the arrow button to see more categories, while on Android, you can scroll down. The parent categories will show a horizontal three-dot icon at the top. Just tap on the parent category to select the subcategories.

           

2. Select wallet:

By default, the widget automatically selects the wallet you used most recently. However, if you want to switch to a different wallet, just tap the Wallet icon on the widget screen and choose a new wallet from the list.
Note: The widget only displays wallets that are allowed to add transactions. For example, linked wallets will not be shown, as they are updated with transactions from the bank.

3. Enter amount:

After selecting the category and wallet, enter the expense or income amount. 

4. Press Save button:

Finally, once you’ve filled in all the information, simply press Save to complete the transaction entry. The transaction will automatically be saved into MoneyLover’s app.

If you leave any information incomplete, the widget will display a notification indicating that the transaction cannot be added, as shown in the image below.
