1. Definition
Reports in MoneyLover provide a detailed overview of personal financial status. By synthesizing and analyzing data from transactions entered by users, reports help users gain a clearer understanding of income and expenditure, spending trends, as well as evaluate and effectively manage their personal finances. Reports may include general indicators such as total income, total expenses, current balance, as well as detailed charts and statistical forms to support users in making informed financial decisions.
2. Report overview
You can track income and expenses reports across all wallets or individually for each wallet. To do this, follow these steps:
Step 1: Access the Report Overview screen
You can access the Report Overview screen in two ways:
- Method 1: From the Transaction screen, select "View reports for this period".
- Method 2: From the Home screen, select the "See reports" section.
Step 2: View detailed reports
On the Report Overview screen, you can select the wallet to view reports via the wallet selection button. You can choose to view income and expense reports for total wallet or for each wallet individually.
Click on "All wallets" button to select the wallet that you want to see report.
You can also select different time ranges for viewing reports, such as Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Year, All or a custom time range according to your preference.

Step 3: Monitor the overall reports of wallets for each time range
a) Total wallet, basic wallets, linked wallets
On the Report Overview screen, if you choose total wallet, basic wallets, or linked wallets, the app will display wallet information for the selected time range, including:
- Opening balance: (= Total income - Total expenses) at the beginning of the selected time range.
- Ending balance: (= Total income - Total expenses) at the ending of the selected time range.
- Amount and column chart showing net income.
- Amount and pie chart showing Expenses, Incomes.
- Debt amount.
- Loan amount.
- Other amount: the total amount of transactions not included in the report (excluded from report).

b) Goal wallets
On the Report Overview screen, if you choose a goal wallet (changed in the "all wallets" button), the app will display the following information for the selected time range:
- Goal value.
- Ending date of savings.
- Saved: Amount saved up to now.
- Remaining: Amount needed to reach the goal.
- Progress bar displays the amount saved compared to the goal.
- Chart showing income and expenses of the savings wallet.
- Inflow: Total money received in the savings wallet.
- Outflow: Total money spent in the savings wallet.
c) Credit Wallets
Similarly, if you choose a credit wallet, the app will display the following information for the selected time range:
- Balance: Balance refers to the amount of money you either owe or have available. A negative balance indicates the amount you owe, while a positive balance shows the funds you have on hand to use before needing to tap into your credit.
- Due date: The date by which you must pay the credit card balance to the bank. The due date notification will appear 5 days before the payment is due. For example, if you need to make a payment for the credit wallet on the 10th, the due date notification will start appearing on the 6th.
- Credit:
- Available Credit: The amount of money available for you to spend on your credit card.
- Credit Limit: The maximum amount you can spend on your credit card without penalties according to the card issuer's regulations.
- Cash flow:
- Inflow = the total of all income transactions within the current viewing period.
- Outflow = the total of all expense transactions within the current viewing period.
- Expense: The transactions spent and payments made using the credit card (excluding transactions marked as 'excluded from report').
Note:
- Transactions marked as 'excluded from report' will be displayed under 'Other'.
- In previous months, you will only see the inflow and outflow for the previous month (available credit and credit limit will not be displayed).
3. Net Income
"Net income" is the amount of income transactions (included in the report) minus the amount you spent (included in the report) for the selected time period.
Step 1: Access the detailed net income screen
From the Report Overview screen, you can view detailed net income by selecting the "See details" button in the net income area, as shown in the image below.
At this point, the app will display the detailed net income screen for the wallet and time range selected in the Overview screen.
On the detailed net income screen, you can track:
- The total net income for the selected time range. A chart showing the amount of income and expenses included in the report for each smaller time interval.
- Details of the income and expense amounts included in the report for each smaller time interval.
Step 2: Change the reporting period for net income
To change the reporting period for detailed net income reports (Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Year, etc.), you can click on the Calendar icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Step 3: View detailed income and expense transactions included in the report for each time interval
You can also view detailed income and expense transactions included in the report for each smaller time interval by clicking on that time interval. The app will display a list of income and expense transactions for the selected time period.

4. Expense/ Income breakdown
Step 1: Access the detailed expense/income screen
From the Report Overview screen, you can view detailed expense/income information by selecting the "See details" button in the expense/income area.
On the detailed expense/income screen, you can choose to display the report in either a pie chart or a bar chart. You can also change the reporting time range.
- Pie chart: breakdown by each category (marked with a green-colored box)
- Bar chart: trend over a specific period of time (marked with a red-colored box.)
- Calendar: select display time range (marked with a purple-colored box.)
Step 2: Monitor detailed expense/income reports in pie chart
When viewing detailed expense reports in pie chart, you have two options:
2.1. View the report with subcategories grouped under parent categories: In this case, the app will display the amount and percentage of expenses/incomes for each parent category compared to the total expenses/incomes for the selected time period.
2.2. View the report without grouping subcategories under parent categories: In this case, the app will not differentiate between parent and subcategories and will display all categories equally. The report will show the amount and percentage of expenses/incomes for each category compared to the total expenses/incomes for the selected time period.
You need to select the icon to group the child group into the parent group or not, to be able to view the report.

When selecting to view reports in the form of pie charts, you will have the following information:
- Total: This is the total amount of expenses/incomes included in the report for the selected time period.
- Daily average: This is the average amount you've spent per day (income won't have this part).
- Pie chart: This chart shows the percentage of expenses/incomes for each category compared to the total expenses/incomes for the selected time period. You can view by category (see more in section 5).
- Bar chart makes it easier to see trends.
- Amount spent/ Income Amount for Each Category in the Selected Time Period.
Next, you can view detailed reports for each category by selecting the category on the expense details screen (Refer to section 5: Categories Report for more details)
Step 3: Tracking Expense/Income Reports shown in Bar Chart
On the Expense/Income Details screen, select the bar chart icon to view expense/income reports in bar chart format. You can also change the report's time periods by selecting the calendar icon.

To view detailed expenses/incomes for a specific time period, select that time period. The app will display a list of expense/income transactions for the selected time frame.

5. Categories report
Step 1: Access the Categories Report Screen
On the Overview Report screen, you can view categories report by selecting the "See report by categories" button.
Here, the app will display the Category Report screen (when the category has not been selected).

Step 2: Select the Group You Want to View Reports for
On the category report screen, you can choose which category you want to view reports for by selecting the "Select category" button.
At the Select Group screen, you can choose the Income or Expense tab, and then select the group you want to view reports for.

Step 3: View the Reports
When viewing group reports, you can choose to view reports for subcategories or parent categories.
If you choose to view reports for subcategories, the app will display reports in the form of bar charts for the selected subcategory.
Rental report (a subcategory of Bills & Utilities category).
If you choose to view reports for the parent category, you can view reports in either bar chart or pie chart, as explained above.
6. Trends
To view spending trends in the report, go to the Reports section, select "See details" for the section you wish to view (income or expense), then choose "Select time range," pick a timeframe such as quarter, year, all, or custom, and view it using a bar chart to easily see spending or income trends by month.
